Special Inspections are required for all construction projects filed on or after July 1, 2008.  Special Inspections may only be performed by Special Inspectors working for a Buildings Department approved Special Inspection Agency.  Under these regulations implemented by the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB), Special Inspections must be conducted to verify that construction complies with the plans approved by the DOB.
